This exhibition seeks to celebrate and explore the male nude, celebrating those who examine, muse and obsess over this controversial subject.

Exhibiting work from a new generation of home grown and international artists: from Paris duo Exterface intensely stylized nude narratives to Canada’s Mikel Marton, who’s male nude portraits are winning critical acclaim across America and around the world.
Alongside photography, mixed media work and 3D installation will be covers from ground breaking Butt magazine and fanzines including New York’s PinUps and Spunk. Aiding the review of the Male Nude’s place in a commercial and subcultural context.

As I sit here in bed, sipping brandy, clad in only wool socks (reluctantly nestling into my favorite season), I recollect the events, loves, and hang outs that littered my short-lived Montreal Summer.

I've unearthed these photos capturing one of the great memories that capped summer's close.

My friend, Laurence and I biked 2 hours out of the city, to the Lachine canal. Once there, we traded our wheels for oars and took a canoe to a tiny private island called Dixie Island.

The moment I got into the canoe, I stripped down naked, to feel the last beams of summer sun on my skin. It was one of the most incredible experiences. Laurence "followed suit" once on the island, where we proceeded to take photos on our newly claimed clothing optional colony.


Laurence is a talented young, half-vietnamese Circus performer, and one of my most adventurous, spiritually inspiring friends. He will be going to Vancouver, to train for the opening at the 2010 Olympics. Bonne chance, mon petit raton-laveur!

Her sovereign Sunset's secret lover: Acolyte to her violent red desire. Last weekend, I photographed the eighteen-year old model Tommy F, as my HIEROPHANT for the most recent spread featured in Ignacio Lozano's GUAPO magazine.

The duty of the HIEROPHANT is to draw the divine down to the physical Earth. He performs the rite of eventide, shaping the intangible, inconceivable beauty of the Universe into warm flesh in the palm of his hand. His body is the altar on which the Spirit and the Kingdom commune. Much like the Artist, whose duty is to stay pious to his vision, embodying an axis between his/her dreams and reality.

Feature in Summer issue of Pref No. 33

In stores today is the new Summer issue of Paris-based magazine Pref Mag No. 33, featuring a 7-page spread of my series Economerotics (Page 62-69). Accompanying the spread is an article about sex and exhibitionism by Bruce Benderson. Also, for your viewing pleasure, is a photograph of my naked self smelling my ginch for an article about jock-strap whorship.

Each Summer, PREF releases an plastic-enclosed issue which allows frontal nudity to make it to print, and they always ask me to contribute, as I have been happily doing for a couple of years now.

ART EROTICA DONATION FOR AUCTION BENEFITING THE ASA

This month, I orchestrated a 14-PERSON EROTIC PORTRAIT series, featuring a fairly equal ratio of boys and girls for the ART EROTICA EXHIBITION/AIDS BENEFIT AUCTION happening in Austin, Texas, this Saturday, on April 18th.

The EROTIC PORTRAIT SERIES was specifically made for the art auction, in hopes to help their cause, and represents a creative new era of liberated young people, comfortable in their skin. Showcasing the beauty of youth, captured with emphasis on ephemeral. I was inspired by my own concepts of life and death.

The annually successful ART EROTICA show, is not only one of the biggest erotic art exhibitions, but it is also a silent auction raising HIV awareness, and emergency funds for the Austin AIDS community. See: Paul Kirby Emergency Fund (PKF)

The event is put on by the fighters of the free world, THE OCTOPUS CLUB, who have in the past years raised more than $1.2 million, 100 percent of which has gone directly to someone living in Austin with HIV and AIDS facing a financial emergency.

GRAFUCK BOOK LAUNCH + EXHIBITION(ISM)

Friends, collectors, and Mikel enthusiasts: The newest edition of GRAFUCK is almost out, and within it, a small collection of my work.

GRAFUCK features the latest erotic work from a diverse group of established artists, and emerging international talents. Illustration, photography and fine art come together in an annual publication of intriguing, and provocative images and ideas.

Gallery Nucleus will be presenting an art exhibition celebrating the release of the highly anticipated Grafuck 4 art book. The exhibit features an international roster of artists who have contributed to the fourth edition of this notoriously popular book series.

The opening reception is on Saturday Aprill, 11, from 7pm, to 11pm, at Gallery Nucleus (just 15 mins outside of downtown LA).

There will be live body painting by Jim Mahfood, interactive displays, and most importantly an exhibition of art works by the contributing artists. I have three pieces in the show, but will only be there in erotic spirit (Oh, you'll feel me).

I used to have a Holga camera when I was 16. I, an angsty teen at the time was unable to be as careful as one should be with a camera made of plastic, had knocked the damn thing into pieces.

Holga is a cheaper, medium format, plastic toy camera appreciated for it's reliably unreliable results. The plastic construction and simple lens creates unique photos often with blurred distorted edges, vignetting, and flares from light leaks. The double exposure option c'est tres bon.

I wanted to play around with this medium again, now that I have a half a clue what I am doing so I bought another this past week and did some test shots with a beautiful young Greek friend of mine, Andoni. The above being one of the results.

CRUDE INTERVIEWS & BOY HEART-BREAK

Last month, I had the interesting opportunity of doing a "sex-chat" style interview with Angelica Le Mihn, Sex-Columnist for NIGHTLIFE Magazine. The name of the article, aptly dubbed: "HUGE, UNCUT WANGS".

NIGHTLIFE is the one-stop for all the arts and scenester activities Montreal has to offer, and it caters to a young psuedo-subversive audience. I didn't quite know what to expect, but I have to say I nearly polished off a bottle of wine and she ended up being a pretty entertaining internet date.

The publication hit the shelves at an awkward time for me, as I just ended a 2 1/2 year relationship with a most lovely boy, Colin (whom I loved very hard), and he is mentioned as my "yummy bf" (and then some) in the article amid all the boy-heart-break.

I'm happy for all the things he and I explored together, and it will take a lot to replace the beauty he added to my life. I wish him the best, and look forward to explore the vastness that my future has to promise.

As for the article, it's not my most eloquent, but it's a good cut-and-paste laugh.

"I have always found erotica to be the most stimulating type of activism. It appeals to every aspect of myself: the artist, the dreamer, the lover, the exhibitionist, and the rebel. As the artist, it only made sense to explore these aspects of my sexuality and myself from both sides of the camera. With responsibility to my vision, through my eyes (and body) I want to express the male body in a challenging, yet sensitive way—giving the viewer a unique opportunity to step inside a stylized version of my own sexual fantasies.... REMEMBER SUMMER?

It was not so long ago, but summer seems like but a sweet distant memory. Since it's so fucking cold here in Montreal, lets warm up on a little summer reminiscence:

Last August, my series "Android" was displayed in the Summer 08 "Sensual or Sexual?" issue of the Paris-based magazine Pref Mag No. 27.

The photos are accompanied with an article about me, and some of my thoughts on the piece; However, it's in French. I DO know what I was thinking when I was first sketching out this series (as all my series start as illustrations), and the gist is: Technology is addictive. Rapid technological advance is suicide. Eden can be considered as pre-industrial world, the long stillness before the machine, and the like. This was but one of the series I shot along this line, while the others are pending publication.

Trick or Treat. Give me something good to eat.

Halloween is certainly my favorite Holiday. It's a day where we can celebrate what many of us fear the most, Death.

On Halloween morning (since I was a small boy) I always start the day by leaving out food for the dead, and a funeral lantern lit so that the lost souls may find their way.

For this special occasion, I shall leave you with a few brand new BEEFCAKE inspired SELF PORTRAITS. A mix of 50's porn, and vintage "Beef Cake" erotica.

Not quite my Halloween costume, but almost as baring.
